My dreams have taken me to this place. Daydreaming carries my work and motivates me in my life. When I have the freedom to get lost in the beauty of nature, or my ideas of what the future holds, it feels like flying. It’s meditative and is like traveling through time to find moments of bliss and wonder. Going through the highlights of my history and connecting patterns. It’s fun for me to find reoccurring themes in my life. The things that I discover, often have to be relearned and reapplied. These ‘discoveries’, more like connections; are not all necessarily unique or original concepts but, other elements will play into their meaning.
As a kid, I remember having a dream of being in an open field. The field had flowers and it was night, so there were many stars out. A beautiful and daunting scene. The most vivid aspect of this dream however, was this huge tent-looking robe. Robe-looking tent? It was like a dark cave that was big enough for even a few small adventurers to travel through, let alone one.
It appeared to have a hood similar to a grim reaper. I’m sure I have since exaggerated the size in my works but, even at the time it seemed to tower above me. It had an energy to it, faintly of soul, mostly of void. This was the type of portal you won’t come back out of. Once you open yourself up to that knowledge, there’s no going back. And in a place like this, you don’t really have much choice. Or at least, it didn’t seem like it. Maybe I’d rather be scared than bored.
The curious child is a holy figure and later, becomes a brave knight when traveling in shadowy realms. Pure in their discovery, the voice of the curious child calls from the past to remind the knight of the reason for their journey into darkness. The child starts the journey because they dream of something better or at least, more exciting. The Curious Child, also known as The Wanderer, is depicted with elements like, a halo, a torch or robes.
